From 22 May to 27 September 2026, the van Buuren Museum & Gardens presents Inner Territories, an exhibition dedicated to two major figures of twentieth-century Belgian art: Gustave van de Woestyne and Anto Carte.

Through the dialogue of their works, the exhibition explores what connects these two artists: a deep attentiveness to interiority, nature, and the rural world — and to what a garden can mean beyond itself. Real space or landscape of the soul, it becomes here the guiding thread of a contemplative journey.

Inner Territories is conceived in partnership with the Fondation Anto Carte.

In the enchanting gardens of the Van Buuren Museum, every path seems to lead to a little secret. Behind a hedge, at the foot of a tree, or along a winding trail, imagination can awaken and turn the garden into a place of exploration. Come and open your eyes wide, let your ideas wander, and be inspired: observe, dream, and invent stories inspired by the shapes of nature and the colours of spring.

Throughout the week, the activities alternate between the exploration of the museum and its park and the discovering of different artistic techniques (clay modeling, printmaking, monotypes…). Inspired by the myths and legends of the garden, the children will transform the landscape into a true space for artistic experimentation, where they can invent and share their own stories.

The BANAD Festival returns on 21 and 22 March 2026 for one of its weekends dedicated to Art Nouveau and Art Deco architecture in Brussels.

On this occasion, the van Buuren Museum & Gardens will be entirely reserved for the festival and closed to individual visitors throughout the weekend.

Visits will take place exclusively as part of the BANAD Festival.
