The van Buuren Museum & Gardens is pleased to present an exhibition dedicated to Belgian artist Jan Vercruysse, which will run from September 6 to November 17 at the van Buuren Museum in Brussels. This exhibition highlights two major series of Vercruysse’s work: Labyrinth and Pleasure Garden and Tombeaux.

The van Buuren Museum, with its unique architectural setting and famous labyrinth and garden, offers a direct parallel with Vercruysse’s Labyrinth & Pleasure Gardens series. The integration of these historical elements with the artist’s works highlights a shared exploration of playful and contemplative spaces, allowing visitors to appreciate the connections between the artist’s vision and the museum’s setting.

A Journey Through Time

A couple
in a Movement
Built in 1928, David van Buuren’s house presents an Amsterdam School exterior and an Art Deco interior by renowned decorators from Belgium, France, and the Netherlands. With original rare furniture, carpets, stained glass, sculptures, and paintings from the 16th through to the 20th centuries, it retains the feel of a private home. The gardens, designed by Jules Buyssens in the 1920s and René Pechère in the 1960s, include the Regular, Picturesque and Rose Gardens, as well as the Labyrinth and the Heart Garden, making it an ideal place for strolling and reflection.
