The cosy corner

Used only for reading, this salon takes its name from the corner sofa called the “cosy corner”. David Van Buuren, with his careful attention to the smallest detail, went so far as to incorporate a cushion at the end of the sofa for their dog Patrocle. The black Labrador-marble wall of the fireplace was custom-designed to accommodate Constant Permeke’s (1886-1952) “Night seascape” and the gilded bronze “Spirit of Fire” fire-dogs by Belgian artist Dolf Ledel (1993-1976). The geometric-shaped rugs were created by Jaap Gidding. Between three still lifes by Henri Fantin-Latour (1836-1904), appears the painting “The Fall of Icarus”, attributed to the entourage of Pieter Bruegel the Elder (late 16th century). The small cylinder desk, created by Studio Dominique, combines exotic wood, typical of Art Deco (rosewood and sycamore), with metal elements.
