Georges Minne (1866-1941)
The Kneeling Youth
It was in Forest-lez-Brussels that George Minne discovered his favourite theme: ‘The Kneeling Youth’, a naked adolescent, introverted, kneeling, bowed head, fragile and isolated from the world. This was a recurring theme throughout his work.
The sculpture takes centre stage at the bottom of the staircase, which was designed around it.
